In accordance with its Annual Work Program 2011, the Association “Balkan Security Forum” (BSF) from Skopje organizes a Panel discussion on the subject:
“MACEDONIAN AND REGIONAL CHALLENGES BEFORE NATO SUMMIT IN CHICAGO”
The Panel discussion will be held on November 26, 2011 (Saturday), 11, 00 hrs in the Army House, Hall 4, Skopje.

The topic:
“MACEDONIAN AND REGIONAL CHALLENGES BEFORE NATO SUMMIT IN CHICAGO”
Objectives of the Panel discussion:
The goal of the Panel discussion is to affirm the general established security values through debates, ideas, options and concrete planned activities in order to point the most effective ways for establishment of secure and politically stable environment in Republic of Macedonia and the region.
In addition, and through expert analyses of the current aspects of security and stability, to set the topic about further construction of the security system of Macedonia in the context of the stability of national and regional level, as a challenge and priority in directing and intensification of activities and values in the security area and to create conditions for sustainable development, strengthening of trust and cooperation in the region.
The main expected result is that officials, experts and scholars, dealing with security and defence related policies and analyses, will receive broader and deeper knowledge about the entire risks and emerging crises, the ideas and organizational preparedness to meet the challenges and the necessary improvements in national security concepts. Based on sharing of information and ideas the Panel discussion will generate proposals for improving operational capabilities and interagency co-operation in the security system.
An important outcome expected is the further confidence building through mutual information in security and defence related issues.

– Current security situation in the country and the region as a challenge to Euro-Atlantic priorities.
– Macedonian diplomacy in the context of promoting reforms in the sector of security and compromising over the name issue,
– NATO, European security and Macedonia’s place in the context of regional security and global levels,
– Chicago 2012 – confirmation of the Macedonian cause or contribution to strengthening the NATO-skepticism,
– Is there an alternative for Macedonian membership to NATO – Is there a chance of neutrality?

The Panel discussion will bring together for intensive dialogue a wide range of experts from the defense and security sector, institutions that are dealing with formulation and implementation of the security and defense policy, professors and instructors from educational institutions that have programs on security, anti-terrorism, national and corporative security and defense.
